2016

12 - 15 April: CLIMMANI/INTERFACE workshop “After the extreme – measuring and modeling impacts on terrestrial ecosystems when thresholds are exceeded”.
The workshop took place at the Accademia dei Georgofili, in Florence (Italy), and it was organized by Claus Beier, Aimee Classen and Klaus S Larsen, University of Copenhagen (DK); Jeff Dukes, Purdue University (US); Anke Jentsch from University of Bayreuth (DE); and Franco Miglietta, Institute for Biometeorology, National Research Council (IT).

2015

The Fluorescence Explorer (FLEX)
was selected in November 2015 as the next Earth Exploration Mission by the European Space Agency (ESA) and will map vegetation fluorescence to quantify photosynthetic activity. This information will improve our understanding of the way carbon moves between plants and the atmosphere and how photosynthesis affects the carbon and water cycles. It will also lead to better insight into plant health and stress. More information are available at the following link.

24 - 27 June: Biochar: A sustainable solution for Agriculture and Environment, held at EXPO Padiglione Italia, and at the Gardens of the Faculty of Agriculture, Milan, (Italy).
Further information about the event are available at the Facebook page.
A video about the Stove Contest that took place on the 26th of June is available at the following link.

12 - 17 April: FoxLab@EGU2015
Sylvie Pighini and Federico Carotenuto have attended the EGU meeting in Wien, with oral and poster presentations.

2014

4 - 7 November:
ForestSAT 2014 Conference, A Bridge between Forest Sciences, Remote Sensing and Geo-Spatial Applications, was the 6th in a series of international conferences promoting scientifically based understanding of how spatial analysis technologies can help describe and monitor forested systems. The conference covered all possible scientifically-based developments and applications of remote sensing and GIS tools for monitoring, mapping or modeling forest systems.
Aiding a better understanding of their functioning, and supporting their inventory and sustainable management. ForestSAT 2014 was held at the Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, on the north shore of Lake Garda, Trento (Italy).

4 November: PhD DAY and MountFor Project Center Presentation, held at the Free University of Bozen, Bolzano (Italy). Proceedings of research of the PhD students working with MountFor Institutions and of the MountFor Project Center activities are available here.

24 - 25 September: ExpeER INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE on Experimentation in Ecosystem Research in a Changing World: Challenges and Opportunities, held at the National Museum of Natural History, Paris, (France).

10 - 12 September: EFI 2014 Annual Conference, held in Bilbao (Spain). Official materials are available here.

2013

06 - 08 November: COST Action ES0903 "EUROSPEC" Final Conference, organized by Fondazione Edmund Mach, and the Museum of Science of Trento (MUSE). This premier European meeting was focused on recent research activities in the optical sampling field carried out within the COST Action ES0903 "EUROSPEC", and it was opened to worldwide researchers from the remote sensing, proximal sensing and carbon flux communities.

03 - 06 October: Maker Faire: a showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement, and a place where people of all ages and backgrounds gather together to show what they are making, and share what they are learning. At the following link, you can see an interview to Federico Carotenuto about the Airborne Life Finder project.

2011

Irene Criscuoli together with Davide Caregnato show, during the television broadcast "Geo Scienza", how to use the prototype of a wood pyrolytic stove called "Elsa". The stove was designed for the Bebi project, and allows to get clean energy through the incomplete combustion of biomass and charcoal as a byproduct. Charcoal (biochar) can then be used as soil amendment.
